Contrary to common belief, Tarot is not a tool of Gypsies for determining one’s fate. It is, however, an effective tool for clearly identifying possible choices and the consequences attached to them. Around the 1930’s, psychologist Carl Jung concluded that a person’s psyche develops in similar patterns to those from fetus through the stages of infancy — a fairly regimented process of development. As a product of millenia of cultural-belief patterns, each person is born with a path they must travel before they reach “peace of mind,” or an “awareness of self.” In most cultures, languages and religions there is the archetypal story of a hero who faces darkness, then death, and then returns to life with total personal power. It has the same components of the story of Jesus Christ, for example, and also Buddha.

Hundreds of years before Jung, artists had created a series of paintings for wealthy European families. This series followed the story that transcends time — the Fool venturing out into the world and finding himself; finding that he truly is the Hero. These paintings eventually developed into the 21 stages of the Hero’s journey in a card game which first appeared in Italy and was called “Triumphi” and later called “Tarocchi” and finally in France shortened to the word “Tarot.”

Eventually people noticed the transcendental story of Tarot and how it mirrored the story of the Hero. In the 1600’s, members of the Golden Dawn, a secret society in Europe, discovered Tarot, and began to study the imagery. Years later, member Arthur Waite commissioned a deck that would contain all of the images reflecting the archetypal experiences of humanity. Tarot gradually became a popular tool of introspection and spiritual study until this day.

What does this have to do with you? You follow a similar path of darkness into light - fool to hero. The study of Tarot is the study of these types of situations, personalities, ethical challenges and hidden truths - the stuff of myths, folklore and chick flicks. And while reading a great book, watching a powerful movie, or talking to a wise friend can be equally as effective as Tarot in seeking guidance in life, I have found Tarot to be a most simple and complete tool. As a person works to understand his or her own progress along the bigger spectrum of existence, they will connect to their true Selves and reach fulfillment, on a personal, “self-actualization” level, as well as in relationships with others. Tarot is an absolutely magnificent tool for this journey!

Why Do We Have Illness?

I used to think that illness just happened, and that all people got sick. This was further ingrained as a belief during nursing school. II was told that people simply become ill, and that the only way to cure illness was with pills or surgery. I later saw, however, that alternative medicine, such as homeopathy, vitamins, supplements, massage, and cranial sacral therapy actually works.

My biggest shift, however, occurred when I learned about energy medicine and the body’s energy system. At the same time, I became aware that I CREATED MY OWN DISEASE! Wow! I learned that by not taking care of myself both physically or emotionally, I it created disease. Then, I discovered that sometimes I stayed ill because there was a payoff with the attention that I received.

I became aware that I had a choice — I could either continue being sick and creating more illness, or I could choose differently. I decided to be accountable, to look at why I created disease and what the payoff was for being ill, and to remove the original emotion or belief that created the illness in the first place.

Through energy medicine, I removed these emotions and beliefs causing illness. I learned various energy medicine modalities to do this, including ESI (emotional stress integration), Reiki, and theta healing. Through these techniques, I have healed my body so I no longer take medication of any kind! I have healed diseases that doctors have said either did not exist or could not be healed, including candidiasis, arthritis, low thyroid function, paroxysmal atrial tachycardia, and herpes. I have even slowed and then reversed the aging process in my body, so that I look younger and feel vibrant.

During my learning process about being accountable and removing my own illness, I read a book called Remembering Wholeness, by Carol Tuttle. This book described how diseases were created and how the root cause, a belief or emotion, could be healed. I strongly recommend that you read this book if you want to create health for yourself. Health is our birthright, in spite of the beliefs taught by society that we must get sick at times. You have a choice to make about your own health. I encourage you to choose well for yourself.

A local student of Lisa’s tells another astonishing tale of Reiki’s powerful uses in the workplace — this time in another branch of the healing arts historically not so open

Amazing things begin to happen when you open yourself to all the miracles of Reiki. We’ve written about Lisa’s student Brent, and how he’s incorporated Reiki’s many blessings into his blossoming printing business. Brent also has a medical and healing background, which is one of the reasons he is so intrigued with Reiki. Through his many professional contacts and friends, he was recently flown to West Palm Beach, FL for four days to participate in a surgery, training session for medical/surgical staff, and to do a cleansing and dedication on a medical facility.

“It was a really powerful four days,” Brent says. “I was invited in by Dr. Harold Bafitis, a doctor who is nationally and internationally known for his work in surgical care and nasal reconstruction.” Brent says they had been planning this trip for some time, and Dr. Bafitis introduced him to his staff as Reiki Master Brent Lund. Brent proceeded to do Reiki in the room, on the patient, the doctor and even nurses during the surgery.

“That was the first time I ever, ever felt so relaxed in my back during surgery!” exclaimed Dr. Bafitis. “I don’t know what you did, but it sure felt good.” Later they had a cleansing of Dr. Bafitis’ new building, and then Brent dedicated it to all the people that were coming for a new life. After the party, Dr. Bafitis commented again on how much energy and vitality he felt, when he was generally so drained after surgery. Even the nurses commented.

“Can you teach us what you know before you have to leave?” they asked eagerly. That was impossible, but Brent has been invited back to teach and to train further in Reiki, and the possibilities of what doors can be opened are endless, especially as Dr. Bafitis is planning on discussing Brent’s skills and the outcome of his Reiki in a speech before hundreds of doctors in his field. And the miracles continue to flow…

Terrific Tips for Health & Healing

Postnasal Drip… My Ass!!

For years, I continually cleared my throat, especially in the mornings. I was diagnosed by a doctor as having postnasal drip, a particularly annoying thing which, according to doctors, has no cure and ‘may’ get better with antihistamines such as benadryl. I would work hard to not clear my throat, but the mucous would become too much and it just kept happening.

Now, I don’t have the throat-clearing issue anymore. It was never made better by benadryl, and no doctor ever told me how to cure it. I cured it on my own. What I know now is that this ‘postnasal drip’, which is really just a symptom, was occurring because my throat chakra was unhealthy, slow, and filled with stuckness. One of the symptoms of an out-of-balance throat Chakra is constant clearing of the throat.

In my journey of self-healing, I gradually learned to speak my truth. Later, I learned to speak my truth with compassion. I got in touch with WHO I AM, and learned to authentically be me. I made the choice to release a marriage that did not work for me.

All these things related to balancing my throat chakra-speaking my truth; standing for who I am; making choices; and, speaking compassionately. Now, I receive Reiki treatments weekly to keep all my chakras balanced and healthy. I use the CD Heal Your Life One Chakra at a Time to work on my chakras at home. I use throat chakra oil when it is slow or out of balance.

In my journey, I have learned that all dis-ease comes from my body’s energy system of chakras. If a chakra is out of balance, my body experiences symptoms. Now, as a health consultant, I assist people to know where to go and how to treat dis-ease that they have been told can’t be treated.

Heart Healed

I sort of bumped into Reiki. In 2000 I wasn’t feeling well, and after a lot of tests I was told that I had had a silent heart attack. I have diabetes. I was told that I needed a heart catheterization, so one was scheduled… a two-week wait. During this time I went with my partner to a college graduation party. There I met a woman who asked me if I was feeling OK. We discussed a few things, and then she asked me to come to her house during the week.

…The only night I could go was the night before I traveled four hours to Syracuse for the test. I went, not knowing what I was invited for. She asked me if I had ever heard of Reiki, and I had not. She asked if she could do a treatment-what did I have to lose? The treatment was wonderful and lasted about an hour. I became very calm, then very emotional — such a release. When she was done she let me talk about anything I needed to talk about. I felt so loved, protected, and different.

I had the [medical] procedure the next day. I was scared; I won’t deny that. During the treatment I began to cry; fear was taking over. The doctor told me to look at the monitors. There must have been ten of them against the wall. He then told me what he saw, and didn’t really understand. He said there was a very healthy heart on the screens, very healthy. There was no evidence of a heart attack, just a small valve problem. After the procedure he came to my room to talk with me. He said that he was sure I had had a heart attack-the echo, ultrasound, etc., had all indicated that I had, but there was no evidence of a heart attack. He didn’t understand it, he said. I said I did.

After I got home the next day I called my friend, my Reiki teacher, and told her the story. At that point my desire to know and use Reiki began. She was a Reiki Master, and from her I too have learned. Do I believe the Reiki made the difference? Yes, with all my heart and spirit. I tell this story when I teach Reiki, and always become emotional, as I am now.

Do you ever find yourself taking part in verbal abuse? Do you talk too much or cut people off in conversations? Or, in a dramatic flip of the coin, do you hold back your thoughts, swallow your feelings or words, do you stutter, suffer from silence or rarely speak? Do you get sore throats easily? Are you often clearing your throat? If any of these hold true for you, your 5th Chakra could be out of balance.

To assist in the healing of your throat Chakra, express your thoughts in words that bring value to your communication. Be an active listener and hear hidden truths. Honor your own words as you allow others the respectful space to speak their truth, even when it is not yours. Use crystals with energy frequencies that support the 5th Chakra, such as turquoise, sodalite, aquamarine, and lapis lazuli.

Enjoy the abundant beautiful blue of the sky, and perhaps even water while you say the following affirmation:

Terrific Tips for Health & Healing

Did You Know That Peppermint Oil Has Many Uses?
Peppermint oil is a very good digestive aid. A few drops in a glass of water makes a great, refreshing beverage that tastes great and improves digestion. This oil can eliminate or reduce nausea, gas, bloating, and abdominal cramps.

The oil can be rubbed onto aching muscles to provide relief. A few drops can be massaged into the temples to reduce a headache. Peppermint oil can be applied to the chest, to assist with colds, flu, and fevers. The oil can also be rubbed into the bottoms of the feet to alleviate body aches and pains.

Peppermint oil can be applied to the throat area to assist in balancing and opening up the throat chakra energy center.This oil can be applied topically to the skin, but should be diluted with another oil before skin application.

The Young Master’s Apprenticeship Program requires a commitment of one year, at $1500, with just $300 down; different payment options are available. Tuition includes classes very other Thursday evening from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. and a full adventure day training on Saturdays, every six weeks, where the kids get to repel and other fun things. Reiki is such a powerful tool that it can sometimes be difficult to put into words. We are gifted to have a student who is also a teacher, and able to share his experiences with Reiki in a beautiful manner:

“I have been far more aware, and sensitive to the light within people, says Jim, a teacher in the Utah Valley who recently took Lisa’s Reiki I/II class.” I am more aware of the energy people put out, and the frequency of it. The experience was an answer to my prayers about learning the healing powers that are available to us on a deeper level than we’ve been aware of before.I had been asking God to coat me with healing knowledge like the dews on the grass… I’ve learned that prayer is not the words you speak, it’s the energy you send out, and Reiki is a powerful tool for that. I love sending Reiki to my wife, to myself, and to those I love at a distance. People have felt it and acknowledged it.

For example, one day I sent Reiki to my grandson who is 15 months old and lives in Pennsylvania. His mother reported to me that for some reason, that day he kept grabbing the book that has my picture in it. She said, “I don’t know why he keeps wanting that book.”

I said, “I do!”“

Jim doesn’t just use Reiki occasionally or only for healing purposes. He has come to understand how beautiful a tool it is in his everyday life. “I use Reiki everywhere and constantly. There is no question in my mind, it’s very real. When I turn Reiki on, I feel it in my palms, and my whole body. Most amazing to me is the love that it turns on in me… Also, the more you use it, the more the universe shows you how to use it. It so powerful, and so beautiful. People today really need healing energy and the blessings of God in their lives.”

“What I love about Reiki is that it doesn’t have to replace anything in my life or anyone else’s. It just adds to it, enhances it, and assists us in coming from a more loving space. I am so grateful for Reiki. I told my wife, “I feel such peace, such joy, such love, I feel like I’m already in heaven, because I can’t imagine if I died this instant it would feel any better.”

Affirmation: “I easily create joy, abundance and love. I easily create harmony in all my relationships. I am at peace with my sexuality. I honor my desires and the sweetness of this life.”

A student from Lisa’s latest Reiki I/II class is astounded at the things taking place within his life that has shifted dramatically from the miracles of using Reiki, as all sorts of unexpected doors are being opened.

“I knew before I took the class that I was being prepared for something,” says Brent, a Bountiful resident. “All kinds of things happened during and after class and validated what I was feeling. I received a lot of energy - I was completely lifted. It was a very beautiful experience, and the tools I received were very, very good. Now I use them every day, on everything.”

Be the Gift”For example,” Brent continues, “I am manifesting things left and right; it’s just amazing.” Brent, who runs a “healing” printing store in Bountiful, and since class has connected with clients he hasn’t seen in years, and attracted new, lucrative ones as well. His existing clients are also giving him more work. He was blessing the work he was doing for a particular client, with the highest good of all involved in mind. “Since Lisa’s class, with Reiki I have energized everything that I do for [this client], and we have done $4,000 worth of work for them just since the class. Last week she told me, ‘You are now our exclusive printer, without a doubt!’ We love serving them, and I was really pleased. I also know that by being in partnership with them, and using Reiki for the highest good of all involved, she’ll be our customer forever.”

As of this writing, Brent’s mother was going into surgery, and he was excited to use his tools to send her energy and healing when he visited her before the procedure. “I was a vessel - nothing but energy - from me to my mother. I felt an overwhelming burst of Reiki energy and my dad felt it, too… I know that angels are assisting her in recovering from surgery today. Reiki will assist the operation, it will assist all the staff - doctors, nurses, and it will result in a new beginning for her, so she’ll be able to step again and walk freely. I am so happy. Reiki is assisting me in being more empowered than ever before. I also took a step into a different space, and it has lifted more than I can ever say.”

The 1st Chakra loves physical exercise! In addition, take multi- vitamins and eat consciously for proper nutrition.

Plant earthy, red flowers in your garden, Dab a drop of patchouli or cedarwood essential oils on the base of your spine, and from your hands inhale the scent deeply through your nose. Light a red, glowing candle and say the following affirmation:

Affirmation: I am safe and secure. I am healthy and abundant. All is well, perfect, whole and complete in my world.

his is the dramatic story of Jenny Cahoon and her family as they have witnessed the magic of Reiki. Jenny recently took Lisa’s Reiki I/II class December 8 & 9, and more importantly, began to apply the Reiki principles of healing to her family. This is her story.

Jenny met Lisa Ross-Walker through a friend of a friend, and began receiving Reiki treatments from her. “I was impressed with everything about her, and with the Reiki,” Jenny said. After a few sessions, Lisa suggested that Jenny take a beginning Reiki class, so that she could do Reiki on her oldest daughter, Brittany, who is 16.

“Brittany has been through the ringer the last several years,” says Jenny, “And we have literally exhausted every medical treatment. When she was in the 4th grade, she lost feeling from her hip down in her left leg. To illustrate the extent of numbness, she once had a surgery where doctors removed a screw WHILE she was completely wide awake! She was unable to feel a thing. She also couldn’t move her toes, she had Drop Foot to to the point where she couldn’t bring her foot up, and was only able to walk with the assistance of a brace. It was very difficult and slow going. Worse still, the brace caused horrendous ulcers on her foot-such horrible sores that we finally took her to The Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Treatment Center of Utah.” She had been going ever since to try to alleviate the sores. The family had tried surgery, hyperbarics, and even electric shock treatments. Nothing worked. In fact, things had gotten worse because doctors cut the wrong nerves and caused additional issues with incontinence and more. In desperation, before Lisa’s class, they had Brittany After Reikitried skin grafts and weren’t sure if those were going to work, either.

“I took Lisa’s class last month in December,” says Jenny excitedly, “well before Christmas. As soon as I learned how, I began sending Reiki to Brittany long distance from class. By the second day, Brittany was feeling pain in her leg. Instead of being alarmed, we were jubilant! She was feeling something in her leg for the first time in seven years!”

“Since then,” continues Jenny, “I have done distant healing Reiki on her every single day, and hands on Reiki at least once a week. The most amazing things have begun to happen. Brittany would call me from school, and say, “Mom, are you doing something? I can feel it!” Within just these past few weeks, her leg ulcers have completely cleared up, and she was even discharged from The Wound Center. Whereas the skin grafts generally take 8-10 weeks to heal, she was discharged from care after just three weeks! In addition, she has begun to be able to wiggle her toes - something she hasn’t been able to do for seven years! It’s a miracle.”

Other beautiful things have begun to happen. Brittany has spina bifida occulta, a deformity in the bones and spine, and teathered spinal cord syndrome, along with diabetes. For several years, not a day has gone by that she didn’t take Lortab or at least Ibuprofen. Now she’s gone off all pain medications and even Ibuprofen From the cut nerves, she had to have a catheter, and now she’s not using one at all during the day, which makes her very happy.

Just last year Brittany was diagnosed with a condition called Charcot, meaning that her bone had been disintegrating. The medication the doctors gave her for months hadn’t worked at all. Suddenly the x-rays showed that her calcium and her bones are regenerating. Her doctors are just amazed. “What have you been doing?” asked Dr. Beales yesterday. “My mom learned Reiki and she’s been doing it on me,” said Brittany. “I’ve heard of Reiki,” exclaimed Dr. Beales. “Continue doing it!” He shook his head in wonder.He might not be able to explain it, but all of the doctors are seeing great evidence of change within Brittany’s condition. She was fitted recently for a new brace, since her sores are gone, and unless she’s wearing a skirt or shorts, you can’t tell she’s even got it on, especially as she’s walking.

Now Brittany has been inspired and has registered to take Lisa’s next Reiki class so she can do Reiki on herself and on her friends! Many people have noticed her miraculous changes and several of her friends want to take Reiki, too.

“Our family has really been blessed with Reiki,” says Jenny, “and now I have my own table and a place in my room that is known as Jenny’s Reiki Place!”

Reiki Heals Hearing

Several months ago when I was still a level 2 practitioner and my husband was level 1, we offered a friend of ours a Reiki treatment in barter for watching our Umbrella Cockatoo, Chela and our cockatiel, Fred. Before the treatment she kept asking if we could do something for her shoulder and while we made no promises, we told her that she would, at the very least, feel much more relaxed. As the treatment progressed, she *did* become much more relaxed, but I also noticed that my husband spent a great deal of time working on her head and neck area…he kept being guided back to two particular spots. When the treatment was over, our friend got a very quizzical look on her face and asked me to whisper something in her left ear. I just sort of shrugged and whispered something inconsequential that made little sense. Her eyes LIT up and she repeated it back to me. It was at this point that she told us that she had been clinically deaf in that ear since she was 4. She says that her shoulder is still the same, but now she hears like a bat.

Claim the power in your 6th Chakra this month!

This is the Center of Mind Power. Also known as your Third Eye, it is located on your forehead above and between your eyes. The color is a deep, indigo blue.

The 6th Chakra offers you the ability to see things for which you have no concrete evidence. Your Third Eye is a tool that you can use to tap into your inner vision or insight. Some people call this “intuition” or “psychic ability”. Intuition or psychic ability is simply tapping into the guidance that you receive from your higher self, or mother/father God, your angels and spirit guides. This energy center has to do with dreams, imagination, wisdom; the power of your thoughts and enlightenment.

When your 6th Chakra is out of balance you may experience nightmares, learning difficulties, lack of concentration, cynicism, being overly moral, overly rational, too conservative, constant negative thinking, and lacking peace of mind. Physical symptoms can be poor vision, brain tumors, neurological disorders, headaches, etc.

To heal your life through your 6th Chakra and open yourself to intuitive sight and wisdom, pray for guidance often, and meditate to receive your answers. Pay attention to your dreams. Light an indigo blue candle and meditate while you’re in the tub after saying the following affirmation:

Affirmation: It is safe to look within. As I move through the layers of other people’s opinions and beliefs, I see within myself a magnificent being, wise and beautiful. I love what I see in me.
