REIKI FOR ONESELF: Why Should I Take Reiki?

?I thought Reiki was doing something for people ? at first I didn?t know you could do it for yourself,? says Kristen French, a recent student of the Reiki I & II class. ?Now I?ve been doing Reiki to settle down before I go to bed at night. I?m not usually a great sleeper but amazing things have been happening. For example, last month when I went to my cousin?s funeral in California, I was busy consoling people and transporting them here and there. Reiki helped me to balance and shut down all the day?s events and get a healthy night?s sleep.
?It?s hard to describe how wonderful it is,? continues Kristin. ?I got rid of a migraine within 45 minutes! Usually I?m ?lights out? in the closet and out of commission for the entire day. Healing in just 45 minutes taught and proved to me ? ?Wow, this really is working!?
After practicing on herself for some time, Kristen realized that she could utilize her skills in her job as an occupational therapist at a local hospital to benefit her clients. ?I was amazed at the power of intention,? she says. ?I have seen Reiki absolutely help reduce pain. I hadn?t seen anything like that before. I?m excited to use it every day.?
Another student, Christie DeVaul, took Reiki I & II in October and says, ?It was one of the coolest things I?ve ever done! It really has opened up a whole new world.? Christie?s initial incentive was to learn Reiki for herself.
?I initially took Reiki because I had a lot of medical problems,? she says. ?I have been on heavy narcotics for the last four years due to unbearable migraine headaches. Using Reiki has been wonderful ? a huge tool in getting through that process. I got the energy moving through my body, and I feel like it really prepared me to go off the medication. Whenever I would feel sickly, I immediately did Reiki on myself, and the feeling passed quickly. Now I feel wonderful!?

You may have read these tips before ? you may have even ?tried? them. But now we challenge you to really think them through and apply them consciously. Try them one at a time. 1. BREATHE! Breathing properly is critical to health, yet so overlooked in our society. Breathing is life, inspiration. It means bringing in the positive and letting go of the negative ? just what we need during times of stress! It also takes no time and costs no money. This one simple act of love for yourself lowers blood pressure, increases blood flow to your brain, and adds inspiration and often a bit of balance to your energy system.
Excellent Formula for Breathing: 3 times a day, take in a very deep breath and hold it for as long as you can. Let it out slowly, and then push more air out, if possible, to completely empty your lungs. Do this a couple of more times and continue on with your day.
2. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER. This is another, often overlooked remedy for stress that will increase your health as well. We?re made up of more than 90% water, and all those dramatically spinning and moving molecules need enough hydration to vibrate at a healthy frequency. So drink up! Enjoy! (And it will help keep extra pounds off, too!) So you think you are drinking enough water? Here is a simple formula to remember:
Excellent Formula for Drinking Water: Take your bodyweight and divide it in half (by 2). The result equals the number of ounces of water you need every day to nourish your body properly.
